BRIDGWATER- CZECH SOCIETY MEMBERS TAKE TO THE HIGH C's.
NEW BRIDGWATER TOWN WEBSITE LAUNCHED
By which we mean the Canals of Somerset and Wiltshire....................
A new venture in Anglo-Czech co-operation was launched this week when a 80 foot (well, quite big) barge was hired by Bridgwater Czech Slovak Friendship Society members and navigated up the Kennet and Avon canal by skipper Nick Tuckwell and bosun Vera Bobovska with a full crew of Brits and Czechs.
The 9 day cruise took in the locks, pubs and ducks of the English waterways at an average speed of 4mph spanning from Bath to the Mighty Caen Hill Locks in Wiltshire.
Absolutely uncharacteristic British tropical summer weather accompanied the whole trip. As did Abbots Ale, Slivovice ,Fernet and delightful home cooking.
We were so chuffed with the trip that we plan to offer this to other groups next year...contact Brian (smedlo@globalnet.co.uk) if you;re interested.

PRAGUE 'ARABKSA GYMNASIUM' STUDENTS IN BRIDGWATER
Bridgwater band RED SMED AND THE HOT TROT SMASH THE SYSTEM BOOGIE BAND performing at Taunton Rockers where they raised money for Amnesty International plus The Nicaraguan Womens fishing collective (by auctioning tins of Dablsky tousty). Also playing were Herban Music and Heidi Powell. The event was organised by Taunton Unison social secretary Martin Peters. To find out more about Red Smed click on the photo.
